It’s Go Time πŸ“šπŸš€

Good morning! Hello and welcome to the first edition of the CG Sports Publishing quarterly newsletter.

Before we get into it, I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you reading our first edition. You are part of a special group of the first 100 subscribers to this newsletter. While many more will subscribe, this group will always be part of our grassroots family.

How we got here
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Cejih "CG" Yung, an Olympic Sports Agent. In 2016, I left my full-time job working at a sports agency & events company to start my own agency. I believed that Olympic athletes deserved better representation than what was currently out there.

I knew the journey would include many surprises. One thing I could have never predicted was the creation of CG Sports Publishing.

Why did we start our own publishing label?
In order to get published in the current market an author needs to navigate, negotiate, and write (or co-write) their book. Finding a publisher who will work with you is incredibly hard. If you are lucky enough to find one, you will have to agree to giving up all rights to your work, creative, and even the cover art.

We learned this the hard way. But we knew our athletes deserved better.

A star is born
Early on in the process of releasing Silver Lining by Elizabeth Beisel, we learned just how much control Elizabeth would be giving up if she signed with a traditional publishing company. Frankly it was too much for us to feel comfortable with. Furthermore, no publisher could commit to a publishing timeline that was less than two years. Pardon me? I think not.

Beisel came to the table with a beautifully co-written book, as well as a goal release date of less than 12 months. We wanted to make sure we helped her publish exactly what she created in the timeline she set.

In February 2020, Silver Lining released on Amazon at #1 in multiple categories and hit as high as #21 for all Amazon new releases. Boom. Roasted. We didn't realize it at the time, but CG Sports Publishing had just been born.

Let us bring your story to life
We have come a long way since our humble beginnings just a few years ago. Today, CG Sports Publishing is under the amazing leadership of Holly Neumann (Director of Publishing). We will soon have over 20 books published, and our catalog continues to grow each quarter.

Every story is incredible. Every author is someone we 100% believe in.

Thank you for taking this journey with us - we promise it will be worth the ride.

- Cejih & Holly

Triathlete Mindset - April 19, 2022

Endurance coach Morgon Latimore knows what it takes to be successful in triathlon, and it’s not fancy gear, over-the-top training, raw talent or even sheer luck. Rather, Coach Morgon leans on what he calls β€œtriathlon’s core values” to foster accomplishment and joy in his sport and day-to-day life.

Running and Returning - June 2022

In this, her introspective and insightful memoir, Vicki Ash Hunter explores how generational trauma impacted her family and how, in her early 60s, she is finding her way toward balance, strength, and confidence. She reflects on how she, her mother, and her daughter experience ratzo v’shov, (as it’s known in Judaism), the spiritual act of running in its many forms and returning to appreciation grounded in self-love.

Morgon Latimore, author of Triathlete Mindset, is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, endurance-athlete personal trainer, and coach. He is also an endurance athlete, a podcast host, and a public speaker. Coach Morgon prides himself on building athlete-coach relationships that foster trust, resilience, and happiness, and he works to improve and increase diversity within the sport of triathlon.

McKenzie Coan, author of Breaking Free, is a professional swimmer, public speaker, disability advocate, and law student. She is a four-time Paralympic gold medalist and holds multiple world records in long-distance freestyle events. She lives a full life with osteogenesis imperfecta, or brittle bone disease, and believes that the genetic condition is something that happened for her, not to her.

Tom Gompf, author of A Life Aloft, earned the bronze medal at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo in the 10-meter platform diving event. He has lived a life of service to the sport of diving as an athlete, coach, and longtime volunteer at the international level. He is a Vietnam War veteran and had a 30-year career as a commercial pilot.
