Professional Writing and Editing
All CG Sports Publishing deals come with professional editing and layout of your manuscript, expert proofreading, interior layout, and artistic cover design. (Let’s call this the bread and butter.)
Our writers and editors are sports media and journalism veterans who have written books themselves and/or have many years of professional writing and editing experience. We offer several tiers of service:
Ghostwriting or Co-writing: We’ll team you with a sportswriter who can work either behind the scenes or front and center to tell your story in your words, preserving and amplifying your voice.
Writing Coaching: This service is for authors who want to write solo, but who want a partner to guide the process, be a sounding board, critique along the way, and help banish writer’s block. You can use a writing coach from the beginning or add one to boost a work in progress.
Critical Edit: The Critical Edit is our go-to editing package. Completed manuscripts will be evaluated for concept, structure, organization, content, and tone, on top of the detailed editing offered in our Basic Edit product. The Critical Edit is a team-effort edit in which you’ll work closely with a pro who can elevate your story, so it stays in your readers’ heads and hearts long beyond the last page.
Basic Edit: The Basic Edit is available upon approval to clients who have used outside editing services for story development and who have a completed, professional manuscript. A sports editor will read your manuscript, photo captions, cover text, and other written assets for style, grammar, punctuation, clarity, word choice, and syntax. The editor will fact-check names, places, and historical references. Your editor will have expertise and genuine interest in your subject.
Interior Layout and Cover Design
Bring your ideas and let our in-house designer work magic to create your book’s cover. You can provide the artwork, or we’ll help set up a photoshoot to capture the shots you envision. We’ll provide examples and choices for your book’s pages, so your project has a look you love.
