How do I sell more books?
A common question asked by all authors is: “How do I sell more books?” It’s a great question that has an ever-evolving answer.
One answer that we have found to be successful at CG Sports Publishing is to host events. After the excitement of launch day, you do not have to (and should not) stop interacting with your book. Quite the opposite actually!
Here are three examples of successful events hosted by publishing clients:
Betsy Mitchell, author of More Than Medals with Ann Worthington, is actively hosting events and building off the momentum of her book’s release in May 2024. Since publication, Betsy has made more than ten appearances in book stores, on podcasts, at bars, and college campuses!
Matthew Moseley, author of Soul is Waterproof, has coordinated his talks with important pillars of his book. An adventure swimmer and Ambassador for Water, Matthew’s events have purposefully aligned with notable dates like World Water Day to enhance the themes of his book.
Vicki Hunter, author of Running and Returning, promotes her book alongside her fitness classes. She does so in two simple ways: her headshot is a photo of her holding her book and her byline includes the phrase “local author.”
There’s not one event that is “right” for promoting your book after publication. Choose options that are right for you, your book, and your community. Just remember to be proud of what you’ve created and encourage people to buy your book.
