Why you should host a packing party!

Many authors will run a pre-sale and/or offer signed copies of their book on their website. This is wonderful for building hype early and getting people excited for your book. But what do you do when you have a long list of orders to fill and you’re just one person?

You host a good old-fashioned party.

No, we’ve not talking about a glitz and glam soiree to announce the launch of your book (although you can do that and, yes, we would love an invite). We’re talking about a good ’ole packing and labeling party for signing and mailing books.

Here are three reasons why you should be hosting a “party” when you sign and mail out books:

  1. Your friends and family are your #1 supporters. This is your A Team and it gives them an opportunity to celebrate this very real product that you brought to life. Invite them into this moment with you.

  2. It’s a great photo opp. You’re surrounded by books, people, and smiles. There is no better marketing for you to be sharing with the world. Don’t believe me? Check out this awesome picture of our publishing client David Kiley.

3. You want to share your book with people. For many people, this might be the first time they’re seeing the book. Give them a moment to admire the hard work and the time that went into bringing your book to life.

Remember to ask your community to share pictures of your packing and signing party either during or after the evening. Each and every one of you can contribute to the marketing of your book in this simple way.
